Spring Fling 2013: Treetop Creature Shop *Lots of photos* *Loading time*

Good morning folks!

Last night was the deadline for entry to the Greenleaf 2013 Spring Fling and today we get to reveal our builds.

I have not had a lot of time to go through photos and plan my writing yet I will make a nice video slideshow today and discuss the build in future posts but you fine folks get the first look!

I present to you the:
Treetop Creature Shop

The concept for this build began back in the end of June where my fine friend Jenny of Darksideofaminiaddict and I discussed building our flings together. We brainstormed off of each other our entire build and worked side by side..a few hundred miles apart ;P

My first question to her was..should I do another treehouse, and would it be crazy? Also should I make a pet shop???... And Jenny has cheered me on ever since ;) Huggggsss!!

Everything in this build was handmade, refur'bashed dollar store furniture or balsa wood. Homeade paper clay and some papier-mâché..Obviously all the creatures are polymer clay..*shocker*.. and a lot of bits and pieces are from swaps and gifts from you friends around the world.

You will see a lot of the sneak peeks are pieces that I though I should focus on since they are sooooo small ;P... on the table made by gal pal Jenny

Other pieces you would never see unless I point them out or you see it in person. Jana sent me this amazing shelf and books that I decorated and incorporated into the build

A few of you gals have seen parts of the creations and know of my dedication and struggle via a few jokes ;P

Ok so on with the show ...these are scenes from decoration and finishing some construction.................

  5. Totally AWESOME! What an incredible job you did on this. I just love all of your teeny tiny details. The rat is amazingly meticulous. The frog dude is cooler than cool & should have his own cartoon. The tree dude (who I'm sure can talk) is magnificent. You my dear are brilliant. Thank you for sharing this work of art with us.
Big Mini Hugs (& hats off to you),

  7. Your tree and creature shop are too amazing for me to properly make a worthy comment. Where to start? The tree? It looks stunning! Never seen such a realistic tree made like this before. The shop is jaw-dropping awesomely gorgeous! All those details! You did so well with the Michael's hutch. I bought a few for my dollhouse but they look plain and boring. You should be so proud of your creation! I wish you good luck for the contest (it's a Greenleaf contest, right?) and I hope you'll win!

    1. Thank you hon, it is for a contest, there are a lot of amazingly talented ladies in the run, their work is fantastic!

The hutches come together really nice with a scuff from the old emery board and a few popsicle sticks!

  9. Hello Jane! I LOVE THIS SHOP! You have infused so much Personality into it and made it come alive! Alive with snakes and snails and puppy dog tails!
The fact that it is Perched in a tree is so clever for a shop that caters to those of that ilk. I applaud the redo's of the Michael's hutches. One would never know that they began with such humble origins because they now look Very "up-scale"! Your treatment and the placement of your wares and wigglies, has been well thought out. And the cages especially are so cool perched on tables and hanging from the rafters suspended by hooks and chains wrapped around and around the support beam. All of your clay creatures are Fantastic! You have a real gift for sculpting; and then shelf arrangements which look like they Should be easy but I know they are NOT. Again, I love the extra little details that you have strewn about and taken great care to include!
WELL DONE Jane! I wish the Very Best for you in this competition.
I think that you have a WINNER! :D

  11. You did an AMAZING build my friend! Soo many details that never could just 3 photos do any amount of justice to. You added so much to this its the kind of thing a person (me) could spend a very long time looking at and going Ohh did you see the snail....Wait the frog dude! OMG I love the pheonix, little dragons and eggs.... Please put me down for 2 when my little mini comes by a shoppin. So what are we building next? hehe HUGGS

    1. Mss Bee! Thank you for all your support my friend! I am still stuck on the idea of a barge model, I think if we prepare it in mini then the day when we set sail we can be more efficient with the rice distribution and placement of kits ;P *cackle*

    2. I think even in mini that barge of ours will be fairly large! Maybe a retired military one that use to carry all those planes! ;-)

  19. How is this possible?! You have built the house of my dreams =) I didn't even knew this was what I was after until I saw it =) I have been dreaming of a fantasy-house for a long time now, but I never get started, or I have saved a few things I just have to have in it, but I am stuck, but I have thousand other things to do too... But I just realized yours are perfect! All the great details, and the cool animals! Dragon eggs, trees, goose, very scary cat and the ooak dragon (very funny picture btw) and the house, brilliant! I want it all =)
I have no words for this, so I'll be quite now and look once more at these great pictures =)
Just one question, is there a competition, this spring fling? I've seen it on many blogs now, haven't looked it up.. but will there be voting? In that case, please give me a link and I will go vote for you in a second ;)

  25. Jane, it was a great idea to make a tree top house! I've never found time to finish my project for Spring Fling but am enjoining a lot to see what others made. My favorite part of your house is that everything was hand made! and beautifully hand made. So many little details that give the house a character. Congratulations on finishing an amazing shop and Good Luck to win! Mini hugs, Natalia
