I am surrounded by fairies!!!: Fairy gardens everywhere!!!!!

Good day good folk!!

Its just really starting to bloom here, the season has been so delayed that it is almost June and we are just starting flower bloom and full greenery. We had like 5 days of above 70 so far this whole spring..

I worry that it will not be a long enough season for my garden but each year I have to struggle with deer eating everything and trying to make my swamp look less like I live deep in the shticks...which I do.. and more like the crappy but nice'ish version of home and gardens.

Every year my daughter finds nooks and pots, places to create fairy gardens and they are always the pride of our yard..even if they are very small ;)

I have been looking about as I do spring yard work and have found little ruins of gardens from years past and took some shots of things about our little spot in the woods;)

There certainly is magic about..just have to look under things...

We purchased this large planter from our local store its a rectangle deck pot that I have started to plan out..you can see some ideas for it are churning.

I looked around my yard and found some old ruins of gardens under trees and some little critters still seem to be using them..life takes over where it will!

We created this little terrarium style garden in my house with the lovely little fairy from Lisa!

No garden here but my pond is in bloom!

I really need work on my vegetable garden space..but it functions fine for now.

And here is a quick shot of the lovely houses the children worked on yesterday, aren't they so awesome!!

I will be creating some things for our new big fairy "land" In polymer clay over the next week or two ..hummm maybe you folks can learn how to do it yourselves..somehow *wink*

How does your garden grow?

  2. You have an enchanted garden for sure... a fairy or a magical being might be hiding under each plant, how much fun must this be. Well, in my garden there are no fairies... or magical critters... but every now and then...sometimes... well, somehow quite often there are my own little bearies discovering my garden and always reminding me that even the tiniest details deserve being noticed. Your vegetable garden looks fantastic, what could be better than having your own biological, fresh picked vegetables. - The fairy houses look fantastic - no doubt the children had loads of fun doing them.

    1. Thanks hon,
Oh I am sure if I looked hard enough there might be a small bear around these woods as well..I know we have the big ones..they cross my lawn ever so often ;)

I agree to just sit and take time to appreciate the small things is something really big in life ;)

  3. What a beautiful place you have there. It's full of magic and blooms. The vegetable garden is fantastic! I have deer issues myself. It's difficult to get them to understand that "this is my food...you go eat over there." The fairy gardens are wonderful & I am so happy your daughter is enjoying her fairy. ;-) The kids created some fabulous houses and I am looking forward to seeing (and learning about) your big plans for the new fairy land.
    Smiles & Hugs,

    1. Oh the deer..they are so majestic as they eat all my plants and they are so delicate as they crap my money back onto my lawn! LOL

We have finnaly decided to wrap the yard in wire fence this summer ..or we will just never have anything..ahhh the price of living in the woods!

I think you will enjoy the big plans ;)

  4. You have a beautiful garden! And a pond on top of that! Who actually has a pond nowadays? It must be truly a magical place. I wished I could see deers or some sort of wild life around my place. We are smack in the middle of the city so no such luck. My garden is a sad sad little thing. Especially because my neighbor keeps throwing leftover bird seeds in it and treats it like it's basically her garden. Sigh. I have plans for the garden but it will have to wait. The birdhouses are lovely. Will you put them in your garden?

    1. Thank you Jane! Oh the pond is a large dug pond in the back of my property its not so majestic a thing as you can see green slimy water now.. but it does get nice with dragonflies and frogs and fish at some point!

Container gardens are great for whatever else may ail your land..a couple of your favorit vegetables in pots and let the seed grow away!

The Birdhouses are for the Children fairy gardens class I am teaching ;)

Hopefully the summer will last a bit longer for you this year so you all can fully warm up. Love the red salamander - I miss those. Boy those kid did a great job on their houses. Oh and now you did it... I shall just have to take a few days and make my own fairy jar. So there take that and your darn inspiring photos! 8. Hello Jane,
How wonderful! You really create an atmosphere of magic all around you, not just in your minis. The pictures are beautiful, but I must say the houses the children made are incredible. tell them they did beautiful work and should be proud. The terrarium is a great idea...I just wish I was better with plants! They grow, I touch, they die.
Hang in there, the good weather is on its way...it has to be. Her ein Montreal the tulips finally came out, but so far it is looking like a slow year.
Big hug to you and the little artist.

    1. Hello Giac!

I will tell the children that I showed off their houses and people loved them!

Oh there are only certain plants I can handle as well..they have to be pretty resilient to live around my home..and if they rely solely on me in the house..they usually don't do so well :(

Potted outdoor plants do better.... Because natures does most of the work with watering and food ;P

Oh the tulips must be beautiful! I hope you show us some shots ;)

  13. Jane! Where is this infamous SWAMP that I keep hearing about? I can only see a lovely garden filled with Wonder! Fairies still asleep under tiny plants and little critters making use of what the fairies have forgotten. No Swamp anywhere. Your pond is so serene and your veggie beds are beautifully arranged. I am so glad to hear that your weather is nice and warm. Those vegetables will taste better if there is sun and the fairies enjoy taking even longer naps in the afternoons and so they become much easier to find.
I enjoyed my visit here very much! :D

  14. Is that a real life lizard? Beautiful! I don't think we have any wild red lizards here in Sweden.. (but I have seen some black small lizards running away real quickly from me..) I love lizards, I wanted one for a pet when I was younger, but I wanted everything for a pet... like ants... But I still think a lizard would be cool, ants, not so much ;)
I would love to have a garden too!! I have always loved gardens, but I have lived in apartments most of my life, but one day, I'll have a BIG house with lots of space for my mini houses and a big beautiful garden, with animals and wonderful flowers =)
I'm a bit jealous right now.. you have lizards, wonderful fairies, a pond and vegetable garden, can it be better? ;)
Can I be a little fairy and move in to your garden, please?! ;)

  15. Oh! I LOVE your Fairy Gardens!!! I have always wanted to build Fairy Gardens and always seem to put it off.... I don't know why! Your sleeping fairy is Beautiful... and your real gardens show "promise".... like mine do.... everything is late this year! Lots of buds.... almost no blooms yet... but it will come. It looks as though all your students had fun with the fairy houses.... what a great project!

  19. Lovely magical garden and minis and the houses the children made are wonderful and bright. I keep looking but I can't find fairies in our garden - perhaps our three dogs scare them away! Be happy spring is on its way, albeit slowly. Unfortunately here in New Zealand we are now heading into winter.
