I have been working here and there on some of my daughters fairy garden and I wanted to share some pictures of the fairy gardens the children completed since the last day of our class.
So you remember the big house I had plans for the large planter? I decided to add all my details in polymer clay!! Yes I am still rolling in clay ;)

Did you know you could bake polymer clay directly on a birdhouse?..oh yes .but more on that another time *wink*
I am still playing with details but i think it turned out pretty cute. Leaves for the roof, door, shutters, stonework, moss and vines all in polymer clay.
I might sell a few of these in smaller scale on Etsy. I certainly will do a few theme houses, Christmas, Halloween etc for the Christmas Craft fair I intend on going to this year. If you see them being sold before I do..well you know where the idea came from *lol*
I also wanted to show you some shots of the childrens Fairy and Troll Gardens from the class I taught. It was a wonderful experience and I hope they ask me back for another session.

Love what you did with the birdhouse, Jane! Would love to hear how you baked the Sculpey on the birdhouse. The leaves look like imprints of real leaves--wonderful realism! Aww, your kids' fairy gardens are so sweet and imaginative too. Teaching and attending the class both must have been a blast. Thanks for the updates! xo Jennifer

Such sweet little fairy houses! I have a LOT to learn about polymer clay...... I keep thinking I should get a book or two to get me started!

The birdhouse looks gorgeous... and this cries to be turned into a miniature for sure! I really like how the fairy gardens of the kids turned out - they all made a fantastic job... and so did her teacher! If they' re not asking you to come back... well... then they must be dumb.

ReplyDeleteOh, I love the house with leaves on the roof!! You baked wood in the oven?! I'm afraid of putting things in the oven.. Even food and clay, I manage to burn myself now and then.. And I'm really scared I'll burn things too..Wouldn't want to start a fire trying to put weird stuff in the oven while trying new clay creations ;)

ReplyDeleteYou must have had the best time ever! I can imagine kids asking all sorts of question and making your time there, with them, creating, a time of joy and happiness. I love all of them, they look so cute and even more cute because they were made by kids.I love your birdhouse, as you know I love these all things fairy, gnome, forest, related! :) :) I did cover twice a wooden box with clay and one of this time I put liquid clay to attach the clay to the wood and another time I covered the wood with a mix of glue and water, let it dry and then attached the clay directly to the wood without using any other medium. How did you do it? With even a different method?? Looking forward to see more....more of something.... and you, with your fairy like powers, probably know what I'm talking about :) :) :)

DeleteI do like to dabble in the wee fantastical! The fairy lands are wonderful for whimsy and fancy but now I think I must go back to medieval and magical ;P
As for the clay yes you can do bake and bond, glue wet, glue dry as a surface even some paints. I will have a tutorial ..eventually on it ;P
