I got to start writing again..uhhhh....blogity blog blogger... bleh...

I am sick of winter already, we've barely had any but I am sick of it.. I have not written on my blog, I know....

I come here open up the new post tab, then drool on myself for about 10 mins.. then I stare out the window and sigh in hopes for spring and greenery.. Did I mention I was already sick of winter?

Then I though Ok Jane, get back to writing and maybe combine your need for spring with the writing and then I was all like....Ok I am rambling to get this post done.....

Anywhooooo...Lets make something for spring and talk about it over the next couple of weeks shall we?   Key words to follow here will be Crap, Scrap, and junk bin

Potting Benches
I love old reclaimed things, potting benches or tables for work always make me think on renewing and greenery.

I like that these pieces are compiled of different bits and scraps, a old window or adding boards here and there.. just using old scrap!

I thought to myself, well I am Jane Scrapbin Mcgee! I got stuffs!!!

So I started with a old pile of crap table ..(geesh Jane..harsh) ...i've tried to rehab several times, then I added a few scrap pieces from various laser cut builds and a small foot board deal.

ScrapTABULOUS!!!
I painted the entire glued piece with some black paint so that once we layer it the scuffed parts will show darker underneath.

Eww craptacular...

I then slathered on some white paint (with the dainty hands of a ogre).. a few dabs of yellow and tan to give it a aged white paint look.

Ooo scrapotentialus

I then scruffed the dried piece about the edges and gouged corners with soft sanding pad to unveil the black paint underneath. This gives it a shabby, reclaimed and weathered look that..I think you might know I like to do ;)

Less scrap more..fab?

Then I ran some more watered down brownish paint about the edges and surfaces to replicate rain water and weathering to make it ready for decorating.

SCRAPFABULOUS!!!

Obviously we have to do a lot more with this..its needs plants and soil and moss and seeds and butterflies and frogs ...

I just don't know if I am going to want it when its done..I wonder if I could find it a good home when were done with it? *wink*

Tis' the season! Some techniques, thoughts, ramblings and a printie for you!

Hello fine folks of the world about!

We are getting closer to the winter solstice here and lots of stores have started the classic Christmas stock up.

While we don't all celebrate Yule, Christmas or the Solstice the same, I think some classic ideas and decorations apply regardless of your celebrations.

I have made a few things recently and thought I should post some ideas for inspiraton and a few techniques for you to try.

I know where ever folks reside in the world one of the classic gifts would be some form of gift basket.

My daughters Seasonal basket for her white witch house quickly done with cheap supplies!!
This basket was done very simply with some of the same techniques we've gone over in the last few years ....of course scraps, extras and cheap bits.

I like to use nail polish bottles for shape as it is easier to remove the glue and string off of the glass when dry.

Wrap a bit of tissue around the glass.

Slather with glue and wrap the string around the surface.

Extra trim for the top can be triple wrapped string.

Let this dry and you can remove the basket shape. trim the paper, paint, add a bit of wood or paper to the bottom, or drape some cloth as a decoration and base.

The pine boughs can be done very simply as well if you don't have Lycopodium, using pipe cleaners.

Just mix a glob of glue, dark green paint or green and back on a piece of plastic. Your going to run the pipe cleaner through that until saturated and the fluff sticks together to look more like needles.

The result can be pretty promising using cheap supplies:

Jars can be done with beads and jump rings for lids

Simple bags and boxes with a snippet of labels or some printies you can find anywhere: <links

Here is one of my most recent creations for Etsy. You can see some of the leaves done on the piece are random but I done have a lot with punches. I just re-cut some of my old punches to recreate new leaves.

So in that picture I have misletoe, ivy, holy all cut from simple stamps.

Rethink your old punches a bit when recreating leaves. You can see with a bit of crimping I made the ivy, the holy leaves and some small oval leaves by re-cutting the stamp.

Polymer clay, wood, wire, paper, paint, beads..

Alrighty.. enough rambling..

Here is a printie for you to play with. I have put on a few cards, labels, wrapping paper..

Obviously do not sell these, they are just captured images from the net. "Right click" Print the page in full or open in "new tab" print. Check the little square for 1"x1"

Enjoy!

Tap tap (dust)... this thing on? : The long (working) vacation

Good day fine folks!

I've been away for quite some time haven't I? Time to stretch and yawn and get back to rambling on about mini fanatical thoughts and crazy miniature experiments!

How have you been? I've been reading along and seen some fantastic work, shabby roomboxes of delicate colors, witchy shops of magical delight, big moves, small renovations, lavish stories of fantastical worlds, flowers so fine they look real, old friends come back in costume, kitchens to die for, miniature fair preps, fuzzy superbears, beary delights in Halloween land and beautiful babies!

Whew.. quite a season we've had!

I have been quite busy as a maker myself over the last few months, I have concentrated my time towards Etsy a lot to help pay for my daughters orthodontic work but now its done and I am going to get back to blabbing....

So for this first rusty post I will just ramble on about things I've been doing and show some pictures in hopes that it may inspire some of you as you inspire me!

My daughters first request was for us to build a real dollhouse for her over the summer to be worked on over time. I agreed as long as she did 90% of the work with me sitting along and guiding her.

She loves a old, worn, mossy, witchy house but she also has her own girly style so we decided on a shabby white witch house, of course inspired by some of the lovely shabby looks we've seen done over these last few.

Its a work in progress and I am slowly letting her raid my stash since she is very responsible...so here are some shots of her creations, decoratons and work so far.

Here is the two main floors you can see we did a plastered aged look for the walls and kept everything else in white worn look.
Bedroom and bath, the furniture is all part of greenleaf kits or old projects I never finished.

Large foam sheet for the chimney painted a few times with the pencil lining.

Toilet paper clay I had leftover where I used a stone stamp technique which I have promised to get into.... and I will .....soon!

My daughters first veggy basket, which I am so proud of, mind you she is 8 years old and did all of this!

We are still working and building but its a good start!

What else.. uhhh..

Well ive been working on Etsy items but have burnt myself out a bit so am going to take a couple of weeks off from that!!! Here are some of the things I've done since last time.

Alice in wonderland jury box:

Three witches brew

Cherries and Olives
The white witch ( this also inspired our build)

Dragon keeper set

Chiro the bat

Witches supply
Pepo the pumpkin
The good Dr.

And recently I've complete a bit of fan art for myself, some of you know I am a ole big nerdy gamer!

Fallout 4 Garage Diorama

I am sure there is more stuff around here somewhere but I've cracked the ice and got back to blabbing long enough for now!

Hope your all being good little crafty elves!
