I know I have not posted much lately but I did say nice weather less blogging ;P , I have been working on my swaps and working outside everyday..gardens are a lot of work but they are worth it in the long run.

Some of you may relate to my dilemma of being in the middle of nowhere are far as miniature groups go, I live it the shticks' and there are no groups, enthusiasts or dollhouse shops within 2 hours of me.
I had been kicking around this idea for a while now of creating a online miniature group that can utilize video. I thought of buying a licence for Skype since I use that for contact with a few friends over long distance but then I started to explore google + they also have a pretty interesting hangout option in where 9 people can "get together" as it where via video.
This of course can be used for those of us around the world in the corners of the planet ;) Time ratio depending since a few of us are day/night not just hours off.
I thought this could be used to share techniques, have a 2 week project in which we could all share photos and video. Meet ups 2 x a month maybe more.
I also found it interesting you could share your desktop in the video, so photos and possibly real time photoshop tutorials etc..
I have not worked out all the kinks, times, languages ;) but for the coming fall/winter months this might be something I will get into.
With new technology those of us across the globe can meet up and share ideas and keep our circle growing... even small ones :P

oh also ...I did a snail, I love snails..
What a GREAT idea! Love your snail, too cute :D
ReplyDeleteThanks ;)
DeleteOh, this is a marvelous idea! I would be very interested in joinin such a group! I think you would have many members :-) where do we sign up? :-D
ReplyDeleteHeh well it might be a bit ;) but your on my list *hug*
DeleteGood for you that you've got good weather and it is important to enjoy it while it's there.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds exciting with your online miniature group. I have searched and searched for people to a miniature group, and now it seems to finally succeeded, I will meet with them this weekend.
It's great to meet up with some and be inspired and get tips on color choices etc.
Good luck with your project.
Hugs
Wyrna
Thanks hon, have fun on your meetup!
DeleteGreat idea! Very interesting too. I live in the center of what is considered a very large town. There are no dollhouse shops here as well as in any other city in our country. It's the chalange that makes it more interesting.
ReplyDeleteOf course, the best thing is a real group, where you can share ideas and save on tools, materials and postage costs when ordering stuff from overseas. Miniaturist are friendly, kind and generous persons.
I wish you luck. I'd love to join in if the hours allow it.
I will let you know when we get closer to fall, thanks for being interested ;)
DeleteAnche nella mia città pochissime sono le persone che conosco con la stessa mia passione per le miniature e non ci sono neanche negozi adatti a tale hobby. La tua è una ottima idea! Un abbraccio Manu
ReplyDeleteHi Jane, your plan sounds great....but... for me, I do have to think about it. I am not very fast and clever in how new things in the computer world work, somehow I even manage to struggle with my mobile phone! And then there is the RSI....hmm, yes, I'll have to think about it.....
Alles liebe Gabi
ReplyDeleteHello friends, the miniature with the hangouts in G+ is a very simple and good thing, been to a few. It is a popular idea ausztauschen tips together, because in my city there are no people who share my passion. And we have a business Swiss one, well, we are also very small. What will be my biggest problem is the communication my english is very bad but still I would join to see new and learn. All love Gabi
Translated with google
Sounds good hon, I will call you when its time *hug*
DeleteSnail!!! Ohh he's a keeper for sure! Now that the weather is getting better I bet snails will be poppin up all over your house. Hehe Thiis whole video thing sounds pretty cool we could be like the mini secret society and have special rings on our cell phones so we know when a fellow miniaturists is in need of support or stuck and needs some ideas. Ohh then www could have .... Ok wait maybe I'm getting a little ahead of myself. I still need to just Skype once, just once and then my little shy self will be all blah blah blah and you know you may never get a word in after that. Ok I warned you....
ReplyDeleteI like your ideas about the secret society. We could even wear small ribbons or pins to show our allegiance to this miniature group. Although they would have to be really ..really small ;)
DeleteHahah.. I know I know I have been procrastinating on the Skype..but I gotta get a hair cut and put some makeup *hugs*
Small is good then it will help keep our secret identity. Also if we keep them small we can have ohh so many!!! muahahahhaaaaaa Ha makeup, thats just stuff fancy people wear. At least you don't have a skunk stripe. Oh yes I went there and do have one! ;-)
DeleteFirst I have to tell you that I LOVE the snail-so cute! I don't have any mini friends- or really art friends-in my community either. In fact-some people have even said to me- "what is the point of it-what will you do with it when you are finished?" I don't understand that- that maybe I do it because it brings me joy and there does not have to be a point or monetary goal in the end. I have not used Google+ much because I don't understand it really and have not taken the time to try to learn to use it but I would try if it meant I could be part of this group because it sounds so fun! Hope your garden is coming along well!!! We don't have much coming up yet here in Minnesota but it was warm enough to start picking up all the branches and debris in the yard from the winter :)
ReplyDeleteI like your idea! I like miniature groups. Here miniaturists can give advices, tips....
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
Bye, Faby
I'm REALLY paring down on the blogs I follow since right now I'm following so many that I miss posts from my favorite blogs, like yours!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea. Brilliant. So many of us don't have a miniature club to go to.
Hugs,
Ruth
