I did a couple of days of work on the Sorceress Tower build recently.. its finally starting to look like something to show. If you remember this build is the Greenleaf Lighthouse in which I am surrounding in Model Air, Paperclay.
I did all of my interior Stonework and I glued the base of the frame together for the next few steps. I am still doing detail work..on a piece like this..that ..may..take...forever.
You will have to forgive the swirly background but it was showing my massive bomb of a workroom and I don't want to scare anyone off by showing them my *hehehheharhar*
This is the base floor, I was thinking this will be a potion, alchemy type room I am not sure yet as ideas change....*roll eyes*
I am still doing a lot of touch ups and the door is temporary
As you can see I started playing with some of the amazing magical gifts I have received from you fine folks around the globe.
Here is the second floor window, the third looks the same. I did a scored floor again on this for now. I may go back and add stick flooring but for now I needed the frame glued.
More work to be done...forever :P

I also did do a few things for my Etsy shop, I am trying to create unique things that you don't see everyday while keeping the costs reasonable. You see so many mediocre things selling for insane amounts out there, I decided to do a small fee with shipping included for these first pieces.
I am always such a perfectionist when it comes to selling things that sometimes it hampers me. I have to learn that sometimes you have to just accept your own work and get it out there ;)
I will be doing a couple Dragon sets, Eleven relics, Steampunkery, Fae, Vampire hunters stuff.. I also might delve into the religious realm and create different sets for folks of faith..all faiths included.
Now....just..to ...do them..~J
Well, compliments to you! The tower looks very good! I can see that is a whole lot of work.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Gee
Thanks Gee ;)
DeleteI love your prep boards!!! I felt like I had to choose a favourite, but it was really too hard, I just can't because I love them all!
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit strange to me to hear you can be insecure about your work, because its always brilliant, or do you keep a lot of crap outside the camera? ;) No, I believe you are always brilliant, hope you can feel that yourself too =) I have a real hard time with that myself, and I guess we all come to that once in awhile...
I have a thing with Medieval, as soon as I hear it, I stop listening.. something about a TV-show for kids I saw when I was a kid, and it sucked.. =) But your tower is wonderful, even do I saw the word medieval, I could still read through ;)
Great work, I'm heading over to your Etsy shop now, a quick visit before sleep =)
Good luck! And I'd love to see more prep boards! Dragon sets sounds really interesting, and I do like vampires! =)
Hannah
Thank you honey, yes.. my work room was like a messy bomb of piled up dodads and scraps..ITS ALL GOOD STUFF!!
DeleteHow can you like magical and dragons without medieval??
Hugs!~J
I think it's mostly the word, that reminds me of horror TV-show from the childhood ;) And history classes... But the medieval stile is more and more tempting for me.. =)
DeleteI just found out a very bad thing about your prep boards and stuff on Etsy.. they only ship within the USA =( Hope someday you might ship to other countries too! for example Sweden ;) But I heard shipping has become more expensive for you, too bad!
Hannah
'Tis most splendid! I think you were an architect in a previous life, dear Jane. I really love what you have done so far. Hold on...let me get my soap box.....Ok....like Hannah, I am perplexed about your insecurity surrounding your work. Your pieces are unique, detailed and wonderful! I know...I am the proud owner of several wonderous creations. There are so many mini items on Etsy, but the successful sellers seem to have a niche which you are definitely creating. I looove your creations and many many other people do and will. Ah...who just taught a class to some yunguns...who are bruuuutally honest...who was chosen by premo or some other clay god to create a super duper project.....who has other bloggers flocking to swap with them or win one of their creations....oh yeah...that would be you. :() Ok....let me get off the soap box....nuff said.
ReplyDeleteHugs my friend,
Lisa :-)
Haha! Thanks a bunch lady!
DeleteOh I think we all go through the doubts, like Jennifer bellow said we are all a tad bit on the perfectionist side. And I know we are our own worst critics ;)
Big hugs ~J
Hi Jane, Wow, this is just a fabulous tower! Such beautiful work and so perfect!! I love it, can't wait to see more. An alchemy room would be so exciting. Love the background swirl, the eye of the creativity. Mini Hugs, Jean
ReplyDeleteThanks Jean ;)
DeleteOh, I LOVE the stone tower!!! I am such a Medievalist at heart..... Now I want to build a Stone Tower too LOL!!! All your polymer clay creations look wonderful and so detailed and well thought out.... I have so little experience with the clays.... but Someday I hope to get practicing....Like you say.... just go do it! (Hah!)
ReplyDeleteOh we get so inspired by each others work don't we?? I want a beautiful rosey cottage..its on my to do list *wink*
DeleteHugs ~J
Hi Jane, The tower looks amazing, and an alchemy room sounds totally awesome! Your prep boards had already caught my eye on Etsy even before seeing them here. Great work all around, and really cool too! BTW, I think most miniaturists are perfectionists at heart, so this might explain your feelings about putting your stuff out there. :-) xo Jennifer
ReplyDeleteThanks hon ;)
DeleteI agree completely its that mini eye that also says..make it exactly.... haha!
Exciting with your Sorceress Tower, it looks like a big but exciting work.
ReplyDeleteI can see that you have great success with your Etsy shop. It is so understandable, since you have your own style, which is something very special.
I understand that you have enjoyed teaching. Your fairy and trolls have is also a wonderful idea and so lovely to look at. The children must have enjoyed doing this.
Hugs

Hello Jane,
ReplyDeleteWow! the tower is just...wow! I love the stonework and all the window, door and floor details. It looks perfect. I am really impressed the way you transformed the lighthouse. Great work! I just took another look and saw the woodwork holding up the floor. Fantastic! I am really enchanted, no pun, by this project. Also a big brav9o on your magic boards. I am sure they will find happy homes and they are beautiful. It might sometimes play against you, but having such a high standard is what makes you such a great miniaturist.
big hug,
Giac
Did I say wow!?
Thank you so much for the kind words, Giac! It is true about the level of expectation for mini making, I just don't want to let that get in the way of getting "out there" I am working on it ;)
DeleteHugs~J
Oh wow, the tower is going to be amazing!! You have major skills! Now go and work some more on it so we can all admire it some more :D hehehe...
ReplyDeleteAnd the boards are fabulous! I'm sure they will sell quickly. Being lucky enough to have one of your prep boards I can tell first hand that it is spectacular!
And your dragons.... wow! I still haven't had the time to take some pictures of your wonderful gifts but hopefully the next few days won't be so busy and I'll be able to show off your precious creatures :D
I look forward to seeing more of everything, the tower and the magical items you'll create for your shop!
Jane that tower is wonderful *you know Im always down for the darkside of minis..it's just how I roll..haha* your prep boards are wicked awesome too.

Wow, your work is stunning! So glad I found your blog. I've already learned a lot from reading a few back posts and I'll certainly be reading through the rest. Thanks for sharing so many great pictures :)
ReplyDeleteThank you much madam! You are very welcome here ;) ~J
DeleteMe parece un proyecto fantástico. Lo que nos has mostrado hasta ahora es espectacular.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great work you did in the witch tower!! And so beautiful your new miniatures! Hugs
ReplyDeleteWhy should I search for words like stunning, breathtaking, awesome, impressive when Giac already showed me the way to say it in one single word: WOW!!! Your brickwork is unbelievable good, the whole tower is already a masterpiece... and maybe this will surprise you... but I LOVE your medieval theme - and (even more surprising having built two myself) witch/sorcerer towers! And according to me visiting the magical side of miniatures is always a good idea (I'm glad I can get back to it myself very soon - what a recovery after all that pinky stuff for my Rosey's Flower Cottage *LOL*) - I've already admired your prep boards and dragon eggs in your Etsy-shop, you should not worry about your work - although always trying to reach higher is not the worst thing to do for an artist... ;O)

Birgit
Thank you so much for your encouraging and kind words hon ;) Oh I love that you have done a tower I must go stalk your blog to find it! Its nice to do girly and sweet.. and then ROCK!
DeleteI agree to work on your art is a good thing while trying to give your newbie self some slack :P
Hugs ~J
Your tower looks amazing. I feel like it's one of those wizard's home from a fantasy book. It truly looks like it came straight from there! Fascinating how you made it look that realistic! Good luck with the future work.
ReplyDeleteThe tower looks very magic.
ReplyDeleteYour preparation boards are amazing.
Wow I love your tower it is fantastic. It speaks of magic :)) I cant wait to see more of this magic tower. I love your prep boards they are amazing.
ReplyDeleteHugs Maria
Oh My Word, Jane! Your stonework is simply Fantastic!!! There is nothing undone about it and it IS Very Mystic and Magical! Every visit here is such a Pleasure as you continue to Amaze me with the versatility of your work but most especially, your vivid and fertile imagination.
ReplyDeleteFascinating Jane! :D
elizabeth
Wow! Everything you do always looks just sooo perfect! I love the shadows in the stones. Great work!
ReplyDeleteYour boards are beautiful ... so many tiny details.
I always admire how detailed you're working. I can work with wood and mess with paint, build the house and the furniture, but I never know what should I decorate in the finished room. Therefore I always miss ideas and the instinct for details. Love to look on your blog
Hugs
Melli
The stone work is massive! You did excellent!!! Love your little boards too. It's so cute! :)
ReplyDeletehugs♥,
Caroline

ReplyDeleteThe prep boards are so much fun! I love the mini mushrooms. :)
ReplyDeleteThe details on that tower are simply amazing!!! The stone bricks look like stone!!!! And the items you made for your shop, I think would look fantastic in your tower!!! I love all of your buildings...they always look real, the material looks like the real thing and it makes your work look stunning. Well done Jane, you are super good at this!!
