Playing with small-er scale: 144th and 1:48

Happy Memorial day folks!

Today the sun is shining and foods have been prepared for feasting! For those of you who do celebrate on this day have a wonderful time with your families and those who do not celebrate..have a wonderful time with your families!!

I thought I would post these photo's to you showing some of the smaller scale play I have been into lately. Ever since Hannah sent me her wonderful log cabin I have been just entranced by little..little things ;)

I am still working on these projects but here are a few shots:

As you can see I went the route of a old rustic cabin, these are my first ventures into this scale so I wanted to keep it easy on myself.

I am still touching up things but here is a shot of the interior, where I did a small a bed, bookcase, stone fireplace, bear rug, deer head and table and chair..I don't know if you can see but I added 2 mats, plates and silver wear..tiny tiny ;)

Just to remember how small this is here is my big thumb in a shot. The copper ball is a micro bead on the shelf.

Thanks again Hannah for this wonderful gift and sparking me on this tiny scale!!

This piece I started to play with is also on my work desk, I decided to turn one of my Greenleaf winnings into a small bakery. this is 1/4, quarter or 1:48th scale.

If you remember I had all this 1/4 scale furniture for a Victorian era house..but no house.. so instead of letting it just sit forever I decided to use a few pieces for this shop and make a few more while using the size as a reference.

So here is a small cake display and open cabinet for cakes and cookies to be displayed...yes you can do a lot with tongue depressors!!

Happy, healthy and crafty day to you all!!!

I am amazed by the wonderful results you can get in such small scales. I don't think I would have the nerve to try it! the log cabin is coming along just beautiful. I can't wait to see more of both projects.

  5. Incredible! I may have to bite the bullet and try micro scale soon, since I sure don't have room for much more in 1:12!

  8. This is amazing. I don't know how you can work at such a small scale! O_o It boggles the mind because it's just so tiny and yet so detailed. Ah tongue depressors! If you didn't tell me, I would have never guessed. Good thing it's cheap material. I went to buy some wood and it was quite expensive. Gotta look elsewhere and be creative I guess! Have fun with your miniature bakery project!

  9. Ooooh... this is soooooo tiny!! I am in awe! Compared to this 1/12 scale is huge! I love everything but how you made it is beyond me! And how on earth are you going to make cookies that small? Did you use a magnifying glass so far? Sometimes I think we would need it for 1/12 scale so I have no idea how you could make something as small as your log cabin and not go insane :D Great job!

  10. What a transformation!!!! I can't believe how tiny is that bed and when I read that the copper ball was a microbead I was a bit shocked!!! WOW............that's really, super duper tiny!! Everything is super tiny and I can't imagine the patience you need to do these things....how difficult must be to handle all the tiny pieces and not loose them on your hands!!! I'm looking forward to see more of the log cabin and the bakery....everything is going to be so tiny....really looking forward to see this!! Big hug lady!

  12. Oh my, I'm in trouble now... Fluby is really grumpy now, he says a bear skin whether how tiny it may be is a no-go! I'll have to convince him that yours was made of faux fur... *teehee* But back to getting serious (I try, sometimes, really!) - you've worked a big miracle an that teeny-tiny cabin. That deer head - what an idea! And the fireplace is awesome - even with logs. You're amazing... and your next tiny project promises to become a big one, too. I can't wait to see your shelves filled with small cakes and cookies...

    Hugs

  14. and you thought 1:12 was addictive... :D Love the looks of it! Made a 1:288 shop interior
a couple of years ago, but would not recommend that, unless you aim for going bananas :))
I agree with Giac, this looks very realistic and that in such a small scale. Well done
