I..I don't know what to write about: ehh.. here are some summer pictures instead..

Good Summer good folks!

Summer fun is a busy time, I have been playing in the sun and doing... things... but I just couldn't muster a good blog post..I try to keep this blab about miniatures and clay and *hehehehharhar* ..crazy eyes....

But I guess a few personal shots of our life here wouldn't completely break the mystery that is Jane Smith *smirk*

Anywhoooooo..I hope you are enjoying your seasons and are getting some crafty time in!..Here are some random things about life here in the swamp of mystery and I guess I will figure out what to write when I post them..

Hugs and well wishes around! ~J
___________________________________________________________

We have had lots of days of rain here and I let my garden overgrownand get crazy..but it does grow and is producing already!

I threw a bunch of leftover seeds in a bed and apparently they were mostly tomatoes...

There are going to be a lot of tomatoes this year!

My cucumbers are to be watched.I see one peeking out today...

We decided to let the back portion of our property over grow a bit this year..normally we weedwack it down ..but letting it grow produced these abundance of ferns that took over, they look like a magical Forrest now.. wonderful!

Some are growing about in other areas also.

I don't know what this flower vine is but its just climbing my forsythia..its a beautiful purple..er..thing

Our house does get "cleaned up" once in a while..kinda..Jane's abode in the Shticks!

This is my boy Red..he is my baby brat spoiled rotten kitty..Here is is sitting smugly on the couch he knows hes not allowed to sit on..did I mention smugly?

This is his brother Onyx..he is my husbands cat. You can see they are troublemakers, here they are sitting on my armchair...where they are not allowed to be...putting cat ass all over the arm..

They have always been two troublesome peas in a mischievous pod.. here you can see them planning evil deeds and thinking on how to claw my legs up one day...

Pure evil......I guess Red always looked smug didn't he?

Here are some things I worked on for Etsy, some have sold..So yes I am doing some minis..sometimes

Half scale is my "try sometime new"..boy these are hard work!..yes that is my pointer finger holding it up ;P

Ok ..I am going to stop the ramblings there...See you folks soon!

  1. Hello Jane the Demystified! Hah! I know what you mean about not feeling like doing very much. It is the same around here. Our weather here on the south coast of western Canada, has been so hot that it is like going to Mexico without leaving the country. As a result my garden has done a Hostile Take-over and I've been too hot and too lazy to care. So I think that it was a wonderful idea for you to let those ferns "do their thing" because they look Fantastic! Your green peppers look very healthy and your tomatoes are big and fat! Whenever I see green tomatoes, I think of the movie, "Fried Green Tomatoes". I tried to make Fried Green Tomatoes but they were pretty lousy and what did I expect??? I'm Canadian.
It is in the south that they have mastered the art of Frying things. Have you ever made them Jane? Just curious, cause if you have, then perhaps I could get your recipe. Not that I have any green tomatoes, but if I did... then I could try and make some again.
    Well, enough of my ramblings......
I am glad that you have been having fun and sales with your Etsy! I really love all of your little 1/2 scale prep boards. You are so fearless when it comes to trying new things, and your eyes are good too. You are such a multi-talented lady Miss J. and one that I greatly admire.
And if it makes you happy... you STILL are a bit of a mystery!
enjoy your summer produce And the minis you produce

    1. Lizbeth m'lady,

Ever since I saw that movie long ago i wanted to make fried green tomatoes.. I love the smell of fresh tomato plants and always imagine a crispy crunchy thin sliced delicious creation could be made of it..but alas I have never crafted such a delicacy nor do i know if it would taste as my mind/nose has imagined...Someday I will be brave and try it..maybe this summer with the abundance of matos I see..I will certainly share my results.

The old eyes are fading by that hands are getting swifter so its a balance, thank you hon!

      Hugs...the very mysterious ~J

  2. Hi ya Jane!
Love the photos...mini as well as real life. I have one half scale house, but find making things for it too stressful to be called fun. Maybe I will just purchase some from you on Etsy!

The half scale is certainly a trial of frustration and time but its good to stress a bit on craft to prove to yourself that you can do it..but in small...small doses!! HAHA

These boys are mischievous but they are so damned cute its my own fault for letting them get away with everything ;)

  5. The miniatures look awesome! I can't imagine how difficult 1/2 scale food must be. You must have loads of patience!
Your yard looks gorgeous. I wish we had ferns growing as weeds! And your cats are so skinny! My cats are the fattest girls ever. LOL! But they are not allowed outside so that must be the reason. We don't live in the country so I don't think they would last long out there. Plus we have tons of coyotes.
It's lovely to see your photos. Thanks for sharing a bit of your life!

    1. Hey Caroline!

You will notice I don't have loads of the small stuff..that's about how much patience i had with them! lol!

These boys are only 3 months old the small stature and tearing into all my stuff keeps them light on their feet for now ;) Only indoor for us as well we have too many wild monsters like bears, Fischer and coyotes also that have been known to eat a kitty :(

  6. oh Jane I love your half scale Mini's you are so talented, if I tried that I would burn my eyes out hehehe :) I like your yard it looks a lot better than mine does I have a blue berry bush that is out of control. I cant wait for fall..Your boo boo kitteahs are the cutest..I just want to grab them and hugs to pieces they'd probably scratch the heck out of me. ( i tried to correct baxter by using a spray bottle but that didnt work he'd just run away and then do something else..I used to run out of water so I gave up and let him do what he wanted..life was simpler if you let them do what they want and ignore it)

    Happy Summer

These boys are very gentle they jump around like nut jobs but then they attack the hand and lick, I mean they do try to trip me constantly by leg grabbing..and they may be the death of me..but otherwise ;)

  7. I'm glad you're enjoying your summer so far :D And love the new prep boards, especially the one with the dragon skull! Of course it's beyond me how you managed to make such tiny blueberries but they're perfect!
And your garden is doing wonderfully... soon you'll be able to eat home-grown tomatoes... those are the best! I don't think any bought ones can compare to the ones you grow yourself in your garden :) We're going to have a lot of vegetables too this year.
Ooooh!!! Precious little kitties!! They're both adorable :D We used to have a kitty exactly the same as Red :D They sure do look like they're going to be trouble :D hehehe... you're going to have lots of fun with them.
Looking forward to seeing more minis and of course more of your wonderful furry owners (because the first thing you learn when you have a kitty is that you don't own them, they own you, hahhaha)
    Have a wonderful summer!

    1. Hello Jana!

Yes its important to grow vegetables if you can, folks just don't know what they are missing the flavor and the availability of even herbs makes home a little more special!

I am glad you have the green thumb and will be enjoying the wonders of your garden!

These boys do have run of the household but its ok as they bring joy as well ;)

  9. Hi Jane, I loved seeing photos of your home. The house and yard are both gorgeous. We're growing veggies and berries here too. Keeps hubby busy. All the heat we've had means there are tons of weeds right now--a little scary! ;-) Your two kitties are totally adorable--so nice they have each other to play with. Glad you keep them safe from other critters. I've been noticing your gorgeous prep boards on Etsy, and I'm thrilled and not surprised at all at all of your sales. Please don't hurt your eyes making those half-scale boards, OK? Take care, and let's talk soon. xo Jennifer

  14. Hello Jane,
Don't worry, you still harbor and air of mystery ;) Your land looks so beautiful and lovely. those purple flowers are gorgeous. Man those are gorgeous cats. 15. Sound like you are having a great summer?! I do hope so =)
I love your garden, and the house! Wonderful! We only just got a bigger balcony and I have planted 3 pots of herbs.. I could use a bit more space, but next year I will be prepared and try tomatoes too =)
I have been looking at your Etsy every now and then, you make such perfect pieces!!

So, Jane is a cat person?! On a distance I like cats, they are so cute, the picture of the kittens sleeping, wow, how cute can one be!! (Or two) But when they sneak up on me, cats always do that to me, and once in a while they cling to my leg with those sharp claws... They must smell my fear, and think of me as an easy target.. so.. from here I can truly say that your cats are lovely, but I need a distance like Sweden-USA to say that ;)

  16. Oh my God!! I remember those kitties being very very small.....and look at them now!! I love your fern and the fact that is growing like a weed it's even better. Fern can be difficult to grow but it looks like is growing fantastically on your land and as you said, it does add to the magical feeling of everything else. I love your boards, they all have different subjects and look so so so so cute!! No wonder they sell so quickly!! :) I wish I had a bit of your warm weather as in here the warm weather is a kind of magical dream!! :) :) Nice to see that you have been busy and enjoying the Summer....I loved to see all your garden pics and you said you didn't have nothing to write about???? :) :) :)

  18. Thank you for taking us with you on this tour through your lovely garden... letting those ferns grow was the best decision, I mean what more can you ask for: No work, no effort - and instead of this beautiful, magical, inspiring ferns. And all your veggies... yummy! I kind of envy you for just throwing some seeds in the soil, this never works for us because we need to grow the seeds inside first due to frost until the end of May. But we buy small plants instead and grow our own stuff, at the moment a biological, fresh cucumber every day. And there's a second pick of currants waiting to be turned into something yummy and... eh... where was I... beautiful picutures of your lovely part of the world and of your two furry companions (But say, can it be that Red always looked a little bit... smug??? *LOL*) And your prep boards are simply stunning, I have already admired them on Etsy - and I must say I was kind of happy that you've been working in half scale mostly. This strawberry prep board of yours caught the attention of my fluttery companion, I had a hard time to explain to him that this was too small... even for him! *teehee*

  19. Your cats are so cute! They look like troublemakers all right but who could deny a snuggle with such cuties! Your house and garden look inviting and so clean! Trust me, you have not seen the state of my garden! It's great that summer brings out such wonderful fruits and plants. I just can't stand the mosquitoes and bugs in general and there are too many where I live! The mini boards are beautiful and creative! Awesome job!

  22. I love your garden and your little cats are so sweet. I just took a look at your fairy house in the post preceding this one. It has that certain air of enchantment that I love! You have the rare ability to create such scenes! Not everyone is able to do that no matter what materials they have at hand. It's like those children's books we see that we just have to buy because of the feeling of fantasy they awaken in us. We are just simply drawn to them!

  26. Wow! Where do I start? Your kitties are SO adorable! Love the photo of them "hugging"! Wish my cats loved each other that much! Your house is gorgeous. Looks like you get plenty of light with those giant windows. The ferns are lovely too and must give a tropical feel. Your gardening seems to be very successful! Send me some of your garden-luck! :)

  28. It was wonderful going on a visual wander over your property. What a lovely area of land you have and I love the ferns. As for your 1/2 scale, wow. So tiny. Had a look at the Sculpey site today. Quite keen to start playing with clay and see what I can do. Registered for the Sculpey University. Just need to decide what to try first.

You have been busy as a bee with all those tiny miniature foods. It all looks so delicious that I am hungry now... I think it is not good for my diet to visit your blog this time *LOL*
My cat loves to sit on places she isn´t allowed to sit there too. But if I put her away it tooks 2 minutes and she sits there again... and so I´ve given up to educate her... but I think she educated me very well...
